The Whitmans
Michael Whitman is
a native of England, who after his conversion in the eighties was led to
attend the Bible College of Wales, Swansea, Wales. It was here that he
began to learn of the deep things of the spirit, and felt the call of God on
his life to go to the nations and preach the gospel. During his three years
in Wales, he met Dr. Sam Matthews of the Family of Faith Ministries, in
Shawnee, Oklahoma. Mike became a part of this ministry in 1994 and
functioned as Campus Pastor, Teacher, Local Apostolic Team member, and
Traveling Minister to over 18 nations. It was also here that he met his
lovely wife Paula, who were then married in 1994. In 2000 he received his
master’s degree in ministry from Southwestern Christian University, Bethany,
Oklahoma. Much of Mike’s ministry has involved equipping others for the
ministry and he has a passion to see others fulfill their destiny in God.
Paula is a native of Oklahoma. As a child she grew up in the Baptist Church
and also attended Oklahoma Baptist University where she received a degree in
Elementary Education. Some years later Paula became a teacher at the
Family of Faith Christian School, where she
caught the vision of training
laborers for the Kingdom of God. She furthered her education by earning a
master’s degree from Oral Roberts University. Paula also learned how to
become an effective children’s minister and led the children’s ministry
which
included a children’s praise team. For many years Paula also played the
flute and sang on the Church Praise team.
The Whitman’s have three children, Israel, Judah and Bethany. Both of
the boys love to play soccer and golf and are also learning a lot about the
Buckeyes, the Browns and our local Grove Bulldogs Football teams. Bethany is
all about princesses, changing clothes and all things girlish. The children
have come to really enjoy life in Ohio. All three enjoy listening to
Christian music and hope to play some instrument for the Lord.
In
June of 2006 the Whitman’s became the new Leaders of the Church of The Good
Shepherd. Together they have become a team in the ministry. They have a
passion for the presence of God and desire to lead others in the deeper
experiences of God. Their goals are to train the next generation, establish
the apostolic and five-fold ministry, and further release the prophetic and
intercessory mandate of the Kingdom of God. They believe the
hunger for God here is wonderful and that the prophetic voice of God is
being fulfilled.
